Is it SPRING yet?!

So for the past few weeks in Michigan, we've been 'enjoying' the wintery stuff - 1/2 inch of ice on everything that could be covered.  Covered with snow.  Then we got the FREAKIN' Cold weather - temps below 0 and wind chills times 2 below zero.  

Well, this morning, we woke up to this.....

That's a new fresh coat of 4 inches of snow with another 5-7 that will begin arriving around 2 pm.  That's on top of the 6" of snow we got last week.  When all is said and done tonight, we'll have 10-12 inches of new snow on the ground.......I can hardly wait to try & drive into work tomorrow morning......UGH!

The bummer part?  Other than having to drive in rush hour traffic with this menacing white stuff.....along with all this snow the BEYOND FREAKIN' COLD temps will be arriving tonight with our high temperature tomorrow of a whoppin' 2 degrees F, if it even gets above 0 degrees F.  The low tomorrow night, -9 degrees F and that doesn't include any wind chill.  Add that in and they said it could feel like 40 below 0.  Yep, just a little too cold to go outside and make a snowman in the back yard.......

How long before SPRING arrives?!

First OBG of the Year!

Welcome to the FIRST Oldie But Goodie Thursday of 2014!

Since Christmas time was a bit crazy around our house (as I imagine it was around yours), there were lots of photos and projects I haven't yet had a chance to share.

Today's OBG is the Dottie - Cookie Tray, which I used for my Annual Cookie Exchange (you may remember the invites HERE).

Well, I thought I'd share the rest of the photos from the afternoon of Brunch & Sweets!

The only thing I realized I FORGOT to take a photo of was the COOKIE TABLE!  What was I thinking?! :)  We must have just been all about getting those cookies swapped.

Princess Punch (I can't for the life of me remember where I found this recipe, but it's fabulous!)

1 - 46 oz can Pineapple Juice

1 - 6 oz. can frozen pink lemo

2 ½ c. Water

3 - 28 oz. bottles Ginger Ale (I used 1 - 2 liter bottle)

1 qt. Strawberry Ice Cream

And of course, I must share at least ONE of the cookie recipes with you - Believe it or not, I actually made 25 dozen cookies this time around (and in ONE day!!!  WHEW!)

The End of the Year is near!

Wow, can you believe tonight ends 2013 and 2014 arrives?!

What a year!!!

Well, I wanted to share one last Christmassy card with you before we move into the New Year!

I'm not sure if you've seen the From The Heart Stamps, but I recently came upon them and have fallen in love with this silly little birdbrains!!  These two could very well be Glen and I when it comes to Christmas light hanging (though he's usually VERY careful on the ladder and not hanging upside down).

Winter has ARRIVED!

With just a few days before Christmas, it's Murphy's Law that we get SOME sort of nasty weather.

This year and the 2013 Murphy's Law has proven that.

This is what we woke up to this morning - everything covered in thick blankets of ice....including the power lines.....

 And this is just the back yard!  

Luckily - we still have power (knock on wood) though it's been on and off all night.

It's supposed to be up around 37* today (yah, I know, heat wave, right).  So, HOPEFULLY this will melt.

Well, off to see if I can't get some baking done because there's NO WAY I'm leaving the house today!

Belated Turkey Day!

So, because of my OCD and need to be EARLY or at least ON TIME, there are very few things we celebrate LATE in our family.  However, Turkey Day is an exception.

Why do I tell you about celebrating Turkey Day AFTER Turkey Day and my weird OCD on time issue?

Because today's Oldie But Goodie is a cute Turkey Day Card for our nephew I had to share.  Evan and his mama & daddy joined us for our After Turkey Day Dinner.

Anything Goes Christmas Edition @ Bugaboo

Christmas Chaos - Oldie But Goodie

So today our Christmas Chaos at The Bug Blog includes Christmas Treats - YUMMO!

The Treat I picked - Fruit Cake....long story, but we have an aunt that means well, but rarely do we eat anything she cooks/bakes (imagine tuna deviled eggs with peas, Green Bean casserole with lima beans & carrots - no Green Beans involved and even some of those dishes that show up at the holiday table that no one can quite figure out WHAT it is......).  Anyway, every year she would give us each a Fruit Cake that had been made several years prior I'm sure and usually, when you took it out of the gift bag, it was still frozen as a BRICK.  

So, Fruit Cake has a special & funny place in our hearts in our family!  LOL

Of course, as usual, I digress - the Fruit Cake challenge - Make it FUNNY and out of only scraps.

So, here are the scraps I started with - the only thing that wasn't a scrap was the Card base.

Holiday Chaos - UGLY SWEATER

Every year we host a Cookie Exchange Swap & Brunch at our house for some of my girlie friends and of course our mamas.  However, when I see UGLY SWEATERS, I often wonder if we should host a silly couples UGLY SWEATER Christmas party!
