HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

And HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY
to my Favorite Nephew Colin!!
5 Years ago today this wonderfully sweet little boy came into our lives and is the Apple of our Eye!

I wanted to share with you the card I made for my hubby
(I wanted to wait until today after I gave it to him before I posted it). :)

The reason for the joke you might be asking?  On Sundays when we're reading the newspaper, one of us always gets to the comics/kids section in the paper first and we have to read the jokes that they print.
Of course, they're silly jokes that kids might chuckle at, but we always read them and both laugh.
Hence the joke on the front of this one....

Great Cards Create Grins!

I love having wonderfully special cards in my card stash.  My friend Susan told me she keeps a collection of all the cards I send to her in a little "Min Portfolio Basket".  LOL
I have a habit of keeping all kinds of cards too - it's special to me to know people think enough to send a card to me.  I can imagine myself when I'm 100 years old, my hubby and kids will have to dig me out from under a mountain of cards.

I don't know about you, but it's so nice to know the cards you create are special to people.
Since my dad was diagnosed with his cancer, I try to send at least one funny card a week, or drop one off in his hospital room, or leave one at the house for him to find. Funny cards are always the best.
He has kept EVERY ONE of those cards.  Not because they're cards from his fabulously talented daughter and son-in law, but because it is a reminder that he is in our thoughts.

So, what's funnier than Bugaboo's Gus in a Speedo to remind someone they're in your thoughts??
The New Gus Birthday Set that Jodie released last week!
I'll ask now what's funnier than an Old Fart in his underwear and bathrobe with his pink bunny slippers, but I'm sure not too far down the road, Jodie with come up with another Gus or Stella image that will surpass this level of FUNNY!
But for now, THIS IS FUNNY!!!
Image - Bugaboo - "Gus Birthday" Set
Paper - Coredinations (White Washed & Core Couture), Black Cardstock and Doodlebug Design Dots & Stripes
Extra STUFF - MS Punch, My New Find - Plastic Colored 'String', Yellow Square Brads and Dimensionals.

And a few challenges this 'OLD FART' is entered into -
The Paper Players - Recipe (One Designer Series Paper, something punched & sentiment)

Be sure to mosey on back tomorrow morning and check out the Friday Freebie for this week!
You'll definitely Love It!!
As always, thanks so much for bopping by today!
THANK GOODNESS TOMORROW IS FRIDAY!!!
Happy Hauntin' n' Craftin' Too!

OBG ROCKSTAR!!

Another thinkin' outside the box day for me.  I'm not sure about you, but I always use my digi-images for cards and totally FORGET about using them for scrapbook layouts! DOH - Insert blonde joke here :)
And with us having a "Scrappy Sketch Month" over at Scrap-Friendzy, this was a great time to do some more layouts (can't seem to concentrate enough to do layouts lately).

Bugaboo has some super cute images that work PERFECTLY for scrapbook pages. I showed you one last month you can see here using the cutie Dinos on a page for my nephew.  Today, I have another page for my nephew's album and yep, you guessed it, I used another of Jodie's super cute images.  This little Rocker Dude was a freebie in August and worked out just great for this fun "ROCKSTAR" layout.
Photo - Super Cutie Patootie "ROCKSTAR" Nephew Colin and his Groupie Auntie Min! :)
Image - Bugaboo "Skelekinz - SKELB you rock my world "
Sketch by - ME
Paper - MME: The Spiders Web; Bazzill Dotted Paper; Paper Studio holographic purple; Kraft and Red cardstock, Core Couture Black Sparkle
Cricut - Title cut with Cuttin' Up Cartoon and Cartoon Shadow
Cuttlebug - Bats/Spider Die
Coloring - Copics
Extra STUFF - Tim Holtz' Tickets, Dimensionals, Color Box Silver Ink, Drywall Tape, Staples, Plastic Like String, Scull & Cross Bones Ribbon and Button from stash

Neat new product I used - I was wandering up and down the aisles at Michaels a few weeks ago and ran across an aisle that had colored plastic like 'string'.  I think it is used to make braclets, I'm not exactly sure, but I thought it could be kind of cool on cards & layouts.  It's a little stretchy and comes in lots of colors and even better yet - it's CHEAP!!  Like 99 cents for more feet than I'll ever use!
Challenges this layout is entered into -
IDIC/Robyns Fetish - Anything Goes
Creative Card Crew - Punches
Stamping Vacation - NO! NO! (Starts with "S")
Stamp Something - October Digi
Be sure to pop over to Catch The Bug Blog and see what awesome Oldie But Goodie projects were created!
And don't forget, tomorrow is a Freebie Friday!  Tomorrow's release is just WAY too cute to NOT add to your collection.  Yep, it's another one that's on my MUST HAVE list!
Thanks so much for stoppin by today - so glad to have you!  I hope you enjoyed your visit. :)

Just 'Cause Part 2

Wow, if you haven't had a chance to check out the Just 'Cause Bugaboo Catch The Bug challenge from yesterday - please do - there are so many wonderful causes out there and so many things I learned about this wonderfully talented design team I've had the pleasure of working with for the month of October.

I was in a 'Cause' mood this weekend, so here is another 'cause' card using the Bugaboo Breast Cancer Bunnies and Bears - wonderful how this set of freebies can be used for causes OTHER than Breast Cancer.

My cause for today is Alzheimer's Awareness.
Two and a half years ago, my grandma passed away with complications from Alzheimer's Disease.  A little over three years ago, my husband's grandma Stella also passed away from Alzheimer's Disease.  And presently, my husband's aunt, Aunt Jeanette has Alzheimer's Disease.
It  was so hard watching these once vibrant, very active ladies just go into this state of not remembering loved ones, remembering the past or looking forward to the future.  Forgetting how to do simple every day things and having to be helped to do things on their own - something as simple as using a fork to eat a meal.
My grandma lived with my mom and dad for two years before she passed away.  We smile when we thing of those times - with what little memory she had of things left, she sure could be spit fire - telling YOU how it should be done.
The saddest part of this disease to me is having someone you love look at you and NOT know who you are - not remember things you did together.
So, for Alzheimer's Awareness, I put together this card.
Image - Bugaboo "Breast Cancer Bunnies and Bears"
Paper - Bazzill, Core Couture, Doodlebug Designs & Handmade "Find a Cure" paper
Coloring - Copics
Cuttlebug - Embossing - Swiss Dots
Punches - EK Success
Extra STUFF - Dimensionals, Bling and Computer Generated Sentiment

Challenges this card is entered in -
So, join us over at The Bug Blog for the "Just 'Cause" Challenge and tell us your story!
Thank you so much for stoppin' by today.  We worked around the house yesterday and got a ton done, so today is a veg day - I got to play in my studio all day!!!
Dinner in the crock pot, so really, we don't even have to cook dinner tonight!!
Now that's MY kind of Sunday!

Just 'Cause Challenge

Welcome to this week's addition of the Bugaboo Catch The Bug Challenge!

The thing I love about this week's challenge is just how many CAUSES there are.
Joy gave us a link to a Ribbon Awareness page and it really made me think just how many things have affected my life and the lives of others.
A Cause that is near and dear to my heart at this very moment is Esophageal Cancer Awareness.  On January 21st of this year, my dad was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer.  Every day for the last 10 months my family has lived every day with next steps for treatment, chemo, radiation and worry.  It is a cancer that until my dad was diagnosed with it, I'd never heard of.  After his diagnosis, we've learned everything we could ever want to know about this disease.
Next week we have an appointment for another scope and biopsy to see if the 'area' that showed up on his most recent PET scan is cancer or radiation burn.  We pray that it is the latter and that all his cancer has been treated.
If he wouldn't have gone to the Veteran's Hospital for a 'check-up' they would have found his cancer way too late.
So, not only is Esophageal Cancer a very important cause in our family, but also support of our veterans.

So, this week, because of all the causes that affect us all, we want you to share with us the causes that are near and dear to YOUR Heart!

Our sponsor for this week's challenge is Creative Craft World
You can pop over to The Bug Blog for all the contest details and prizes.
Not only do you have the chance to win great things from our sponsor, but you also have the chance to WIN Bugaboo images of your choice.  Be sure you check out all the details on The Bug Blog for playing along.

Watch out for Scooters and old Gezers!!!

So, a few weeks ago when my hubby and I went with my folks to my dad's oncologist appointment, as we were walking out there was a man on a scooter, just buzzin' through the halls of the hospital.
Of course, both my dad and hubby got a smile on their faces and made the comment, "I need to get me one of them".

Wonder what they'll say when they see good ole' Gus on his scooter today?
If you've never met Gus before, he is a MUST MEET character from Bugaboo's collection.  Gus goes with my favorite broad, Stella.

Gettin' Back In The Groove

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.  We certainly did.  We took a MUCH deserved trip with my mom and dad in the "Lake House" to Tawas Michigan.  It's been years since we've camped in an RV or 5th wheel trailer.  After dad's diagnosis, we've all been looking forward to this trip (and a trip to Aruba sometime soon).
While I don't have any projects to share with you today, I thought I'd share some photos that we took this weekend.  We took a bunch, but I'll just share a few with you.

These few are when we got to our campsite and were getting things set up.
My wonderful hubby, ducking before we put the awning up - yep, we're a bunch of shorties and my hubby is 6'5" or so.
This was the Tawas Point Lighthouse - just up the beach from where we stayed this weekend. Glen and I walked the beach on Friday afternoon once we got to the park and got set up.
A different angle of the light house
We just love the sunset photos we too (I must have snapped 30 photos and they're all just gorgeous).  It's hard to pick our favorite, but I think this one is pretty close to our favorite.  :)  This was one of my favorite from Saturday evening.  That spot on the beach - it's actually the sun reflecting - not a bon fire.  Gorgeous, huh?
We too more photos today, but on mom and dad's camera, so hopefully next weekend I'll have a few of those.  We walked the beach on the opposite side of the point, actually went up to the light house, took some photos and just had a nice morning wrapping up a terrific weekend.
I'll be back a bit later - there's lots of great things going on today that I don't want you to miss.
Happy Hauntin' n' Craftin' Too!
