What Dirt?

A quickie I did this morning for the Scrap Friendzy Challenge #2 - including Scallops, Sparkle & Swirls.
Of course, we loved our new Riccar vacuum so much (and the fun color too), it was a must that it be added to our album!! Believe it or not, this cute little vacuum causes Glen and I to have to 'take turns' vacuuming. My folks never thought they'd see me so excited about a home appliance. Both sets of parents have had a good chuckle about this little gadget.
Papers: From my stash- I can't remember who makes them they've been there so long!
Cricut: Home Accents (scallops), Lyrical Letters (title), Mini Monograms (scallop circle)
Prima Flowers, Bazzill Chipboard Swirl, Sewing, Fiskars Punch, Miscellaneous Bling, Brads & Zing Embossing Powder.
Thanks for stopping by & taking a look. I hope you had a fabulous weekend and are enjoying the summer!
Happy Craftin!

Sham What Layout Challenge

WHEW - Another H-O-T day today, but I don't think it was nearly as hot as it was yesterday. My car thermometer was reading 95* today. I'm so glad to be inside enjoying the good 'ole AC!
So, my nephew LOVED his Mickey Bag! It was great to see Colin and his Mom Amy yesterday. I know they'll have a fabulous time with Mickey! We can't wait to hear Colin's 'Mickey' stories and see the great photos!
But I digress - If you haven't checked out the Scrap-Friendzy yet, now is the perfect time! The Girlz there have kicked off a Summer Scrap-cation from June 15-August15. This Scrap-cation is filled with great challenges, Scrappy Survivor, bonus challenges AND more to help you get caught up on some of your scrappin'. A perfect little Summer Escape!
So, stop by and check it out.
So, that's my segway into this Layout.
The first challenge of the Scrap-cation was a Triple Threat - Your challenge, should you chose to accept: Use the following 3 Paper Techniques: Paper Weaving, Paper Inking & Paper Krinkling.
This message will not self destruct (if it did, what would we have to scrap?!)
What better Paper Weaving, Inking, Krinkling topic than the Sham-Wow.
Paper: Miscellaneous Scraps from my overflowing scrappy bin
Cricut: Cuttin' Up for Title
Two edges were hand stitched w/embroidery floss.
The 'mat' under the large photo was made by Weaving strips together (sure glad I learned to basket weave growing up - that came in handy! Thanks Mom!)
The Title was Krinkled & Inked
The journaling was typed on my computer, printed & under the photo. Of course, there's a story behind every photo!! This one is no different.
Not to bore you with details, but sometimes there's an 'inside family joke' behind photos. This is one of those photos. The 'short' story behind this photo: For some reason, over the last few years, there's always an 'As Seen On TV' gift under our Christmas tree or in a stocking- two years ago it was a battery operated can opener (which by the way I Love and use ALL THE TIME). This year it was the clapper - though my hubby was trying to find the Sham-Wows but came up empty handed. So, not too long after Christmas, we were at the drug store and guess what he found?! Yep, you guessed - Sham-Wow.
So, now it's just a funny joke between us and of course, it needed to be scrapped (much like the Made in China expired Candy Canes we gave my brother in law (Glen's older brother) for Christmas as a 'funny-gag' gift. Guess our family is just a little goofy like that. Heck, my dad and I are still passing $10 back and forth - and we've been doing that for nearly 7 years.
Thanks for stopping by and reading my babble today - I hope you're having a great day and finding some humor in something.

The Happiest Place On Earth

My favorite little nephew is headed to the Land of Mickey Mouse this weekend so I put together a little 'Disney' bag for him to carry on the plane. I get to make the 'delivery' tomorrow after work to see my favorite boy - I can't wait to see how excited he is. I'm a really bad aunt too, I still had his Easter Basket and wanted to get that to him too - Bad Aunt Min, I know).
Target had these great little canvas bags in their $1 spot - the perfect size for a 3 1/2 year old.
His Uncle Glen and I included this cute little Mickey Card for him, along with a new box of crayons, a Mickey Coloring book and a few other little books, - all very important things every little traveler needs! There's nothing like a new box of crayons and some new coloring books for a plane ride!
The mouse ears on the bag were hand cut based on the Mickey & Friends pattern I cut on the Cricut out of a Fat Quarter and then attached with some Heat & Bond (I'm not much of a sewing diva). You HAVE to have Mouse Ears when you're going to visit Mickey!!
Mouse Ears were cut from the Mickey & Friends Cart at 7"+ (I had to cover up a pre-stamped design on the bag).
The Mickey Card was created in Design Studio and cut with the Cricut. Mickey & his parts were designed at 6". The rectangle part of the card was from George & Basic Shapes & they were welded together.
The Mickey Word was cut at 2" with the shadow as well and is on the inside with a little note to him from Glen & I.
Papers are just cardstock from my stash in your primary Mickey Colors.
I know he'll have a fabulous time - right now he's excited about the plane ride and the water park - ah to be a 3 1/2 year old again!! I can't wait until they get back because I know Colin will have many Mickey stories to tell us and I'm pretty sure Amy (his mommy), Aunt Suz and I will be doing some serious Mickey Scrappin for his Disney Album!!
Happy Craftin' & May All Your Dreams Come True!!

Girly Girl Lady Bug Album

This is an album I finished over the weekend for a client of mine. Isn't it just the cutest?? She wanted it really girly - what do you think? Girly enough with all the bling, ribbon and sparkles?
Papers: Heidi Grace Designs, Bazzill CS, Bazzill Bling
Prima Flowers
Cricut Cuts: Calligraphy, Home Accents, Lyrical Letters, New Arrival, Walk In My Garden
Most of the page titles were created using Design Studio by welding the letters together
Apron Border Punch

The photos below are of the entire album. The album will be attached together via BIA with the spiral binding on the left side of the front cover.

Summer has arrived in Michigan today - we're seeing 85* and are supposed to continue to get hotter throughout the week, so I think we'll be spending some time inside in the AC - especially Wednesday when we head for 92*

Flip Floppin into Summer!

Can you believe that Sunday, June 21st at 1:45 AM is the first day of summer?
What a great day to celebrate Father's Day on!
Today we celebrated Father's Day with my folks and a Detroit Tiger's Baseball game. AND they won, 3-2! What great fun today! Sunburn and all - but heck, what would a baseball game be without a ball park hot dog, peanuts, popcorn and a sunburn?! :o)
This evening I wrapped up a card that'll be going into the mail hopefully tomorrow. Isn't it cute?
I love Hanna Stamps Riley stamps. And this little guy is just too adorable and PERFECT for the first day of summer!
Image: Hanna Stamps - Riley Image
Papers: Reminisce - Pool Fun, Sparkly Aqua paper (can't remember who made it) and World Win - Medium Meri-Gold.
I hope you had a terrific weekend and are able to ease back into Monday!

My Summer Pen Pal

Not only did we get a bit of sunshine today, but I had happy mail waiting for me when I got home. A hand made card from my Summer Pen Pal Claire.
During the summer, Glen's cousin's daughter Claire and I are pen pals. While we only live about an hour away, we love getting her cards in the mail with updates on her summer break. Well, summer has officially begun for her and so has our summer pen palship.
A few weeks ago I sent her the flip flop card I'd posted here.
Well, today I got happy mail back. I love getting her cards, because she makes them herself and always does such a wonderful job!! It's also nice to hear about what's going on in her life. She's my little craftin' buddy! So, here's the card I got today. I haven't made mine for her yet, but I'm working on a cute little Riley the Moose image using MCPT to include on her card. I'll be sure to post it tomorrow.
Hope you're having a great day! So glad tomorrow's Friday - it sure has been a long week!

A Sparkley Birthday Wish

HAPPY HUMP DAY!! I wanted to share a little birthday card I put together tonight in between chipboard albums for Glen's Aunt who has a birthday on Monday. She's recently been moved to a nursing home, so I tried to make this a bit happy & cheerful - the colors are actually much brighter than they look in the photo - it's been raining all day today and is supposed to for the next three days, so this may be the best photo I can get for the next few days. The rain sure is making our veggies grow like crazy though!Image - I think the cupcake stamp is by Stampendous, but I could be wrong.
Papers - Coordinating papers from a stack my Sis Shelly got me for my birthday last year
Punch - Martha Stewart
A little bling and some stickles to top it off (it's much more sparkley than the picture shows.
Hope you're having a super great hump day!

Weekend Wrap Up

I hope this finds everyone having had a lovely weekend! Our weekend was great. I was able to get my massage on Saturday morning that my wonderful Hubby got me for Christmas.
I don't have a paper craft photo for today, I've spent the last 2 days cutting chipboard albums. I hope to have some photos for you tomorrow.
However, I do have a little culinary photo for you - this was dinner tonight. My hubby is a Master Griller and tonight's dinner was nothing short of fantastic.
We made grilled pizza from scratch - right down to the pizza dough!! My favorite - Garlic Butter Crust, BBQ Chicken with roasted roma tomatoes, garlic & onion. YUMMO!!!
I hope you all had a lovely weekend. I hope to be back tomorrow with some crafty stuff!

Grand Slam

So, my social secretary is even further behind in the birthday card department than I thought! (DOH!). I put together this little diddy today for one of the kids in our family.
Isn't the Changito playing baseball image too cute?
Image: Changito Play Ball
Papers: Blue & Orange (Detroit Tigers colors - he's a big Tigers fan!!)
Baseball stickers from my stash
Cuttlebugged orange CS with Distressed Stripes
The baseball sticker on the inside is much larger and on a little wire spring I made so when the card is opened it springs out. The inside says "Wishing you a Grand Slam of a Birthday".
Another blah and rainy day here - sorry I didn't post yesterday, but the weather was beautiful and the project I did work on isn't complete or ready to share (yep, another chipboard album).
We're in for nice weather tomorrow, which is why I'm taking the day off! Maybe then I can get caught up on a few birthday cards so I'm not so delinquent next month.
Hope you're having a wonderful Thursday and staying dry.
My flip flips are still wet and squishy after the downpour I waded through at lunch.

A little Sunday Quickie

This was just a little quickie I threw together this afternoon. I had a few scraps from previous projects that I thought I'd use up (actually I was trying to clean off the table in my studio & what better way!) I've been on a mission to get the blanket I posted the other day knitted this weekend and after yesterday's layout, my mojo has gone into hiding.
Hopefully tomorrow I can relocate it as I've got several layouts I'd like to work on. I'm sure a weekly challenge will spark my creativity.
We're supposed to have crummy weather tomorrow, so then I won't feel so guilty about spending a few hours in my studio.
I hope you've had a wonderful weekend and are rejuvenated as we head into Monday!

A little bit of Summer

Like so many scrapbokers, I continue to try & get 'caught-up'. So, this morning I was able to work on one of my 'getting caught-up' layouts. This was from our Long Boat Key trip the summer of 2005 - it just so happened to be the summer Hurricane Dennis arrived in Florida. The large sunset photo was taken just before the hurricane came through the gulf. The additional photos were taken during our trip. The journaling along with the smaller photos are on a large pull-out behind the 8x10 photo.
The Journaling was typed & printed on my computer.
Papers: Peach & Deep Ocean Blue from my stash
Footprint embossed paper from my stash
Quote which reads: "Our memories of the Ocean will Linger long after our Footprints in the Sand have gone." Printed on vellum & matted on white & peach paper.
Cricut: Life's a Beach - Seagulls
Most everything is popped up on dots (Large photo, seagulls, Quote & a few of the smaller photos).
Enjoy your weekend!!

A little side hobby...

DOH, so I thought I clicked publish post last night when I finished typing this - guess I did not.
So, because my studio is in our finished basement, I have my knitting hobby that I can enjoy while we're watching sports. So, tonight we were watching the Wings play in the finals (not a good result....), anyway, I started working on this basket weave baby blanket for a baby shower. I'll be sure to take a photo once it's complete.

Month of June Challenge

Happy June 1st - gosh, where has the first 1/2 of the year gone? Seems like just yesterday we were dealing with 12 inches of snow, ice and cold. I'll take this weather any day over the cold & snow though!!
I've decided that since I was such a bad blogger and crafty completer in May, I'm setting goal for June - My goal for June is to post something creative every day incorporating some sort of challenge in it from my favorite challenge sites. I really do spend a little time every day in my studio, but it seems like last month, everything I worked on took more than one sitting (or several sittings) to complete.
So, with that said, here's the first crafty post for June - the inspiration is from the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge, week 89 here.
So, here's what I came up with. . . . . .
Image/Sediment: G-Stamps
Flowers & Brad: Miscellaneous from my stash
Acrylic Circle
Papers: Bo Bunny Double Dot Paper in Buttercup Dot &Citrus Dot
Core-dinations Color Pink & Green
Cuttlebug: Spots & Dots
Stickles: Orange Peel
Thanks for stopping by today! Wishing you a Summer of Craftiness!
