I always try & make a mom's day card from my nephew (and new niece now) for my friend Amy (who I'm sure will read this before the card arrives as my postal skills have been lacking this week).
Anyway, this is my nephew who loves dinosaurs, so these cute images from Doodle Dragon Studios seemed to be the perfect fit!

Birthday Birthday, Dad's Celebrating a Birthday

I've seen the joy fold cards so many times and never made one, until now.  I thought it would be neat to do this fun one for my dad who is celebrating #65 this Thursday.  It was really fun to try something other than the standard card.  :)
Here's an inside kind of funky shot -

Paper - Cardstock from my stash - birthday printed papers from Hobby Lobby
Technique - Magic Colored Pencil Technique
Other Stuff - Stickles, puffy cupcake stickers, Studio G Happy Brithday Stamp
Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I hope you're having a terrific weekend.  It's a bit rainy here, so today will likely be a scrappy & movie kind of day.

Speedy Easter!

Can you believe Easter is Sunday and today is the last day of March?!  Wow, where has the first 1/4 of this year gone?!  Hard to believe Spring is here already - FINALLY it has arrived here in Michigan.  Today, we're supposed to get up to 67*, Thursday - 70's and Friday, hang on, Friday, we're supposed to get into the 80's!!  It looks like we'll even have a nice Easter - mid 70's.
So, here's one of the last Easter Cards I have to post.  This one is for my nephew.  I thought this Doodle Dragon Studios Design was too cute - I love this little dude's Go-Carrot (kind of like a Go-Kart, but in the Carrot model - HA HA!!)  :o)  And even better yet, Doodle Dragon Studios Challenge Blog is having a contest until April 3 for Easter projects!  Check it out, you still have time!! :)
Image - Doodle Dragon Studios

LUCKY LUCKY!

How can you not be lucky with the purple dragon and his pot of gold?  The Seasons Dragons from Doodle Dragon Studios are just too perfect - especially for my nephew and his current love for dinosaurs (I know it's a dragon, but to a 4 1/2 year old its close enough :)  The cool thing is that Doodle Dragon Studios Challenge Blog is having a contest and you have until this Saturday to participate.  You can check it out here - Make a LUCKY card or St. Paddy's card.
This is the first St. Paddy's Day card I've been able to complete and may be the only one that I get done this year - I've got a few more I'd like to finish, but we'll see.
So, this card - didn't it turn out cute?  And who says you can't add a little bling to a boys card?! :)
Image - Doodle Dragon Studio - Seasons Dragon
Paper - Coredinations/Green/Black, Reminisce/Micro Clover(and stripes)
Technique - Magic Colored Pencil Technique
Miscellaneous - BLING from Michaels - Recollections, Gold Stickles, Velvet Ribbon & Fiskars Threading Water Punch
Thanks so much for stopping by today.
I'm headed to the hospital to see my dad this afternoon and find out what the update is.  He's supposed to have an ultrasound today because they think he may have a blood clot or infection and the US will help determine if it's one or both.  He's down to 17 radiation treatments left though.  He's such a strong guy.  I've never been more prouder of my dad than I am right now.
Happy Craftin' to you all on this Monday!

A Special Request -

I'm a regular visitor of Doodle Dragon Studios and a regular user of Dustin's fun digi-images.  Two weeks ago, he posted a special request from one of his followers Jennifer from Just 4 Fun Crafts
This is part of the email:
On Friday, December 11th, 2009 my friends daughter Delia was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She is 10 yrs old and is currently being treated at the Denver Children's Hospital.
She loves art, photography and really loves owls. I was hoping that there would be some wonderful women or men out there that would love to send her a card of encouragement. I thought it would bring a smile to Delia's face to be inundated with cards as a special Valentines Day gift from people around the world. Please find it in your heart to bring hope and love to this beautiful spirited girl. Any card will do..but if you have an owl that would be a bonus. Please pass this information around so we can thrill a little girl in her time of hardship!
She is on her second round of chemo and its been a struggle for her, although she is doing better today.
An address for her mail is here.
Att: Delia Cadwallader
2048 Sandhurst Dr.
Castle Rock, CO 80104
So, I know Valentine's Day has passed, but if you'd like to make a little girl smile who is going through something no child should have to endure, drop her a card in the mail with a prayer and words of encouragement.
If you're a fan of Dustin's digi-images, he's got three owl images you can use to make a card for Delia.  You can check out his blog HERE.  Or if you're not a digi-image person, but want to send a card to Delia anyway, I'm sure should would LOVE anything she gets in the mail - Happy Mail is the best kind!
Here's the card I sent to Delia -  Of course, the little owl images are just too cute - they were designed with Delia in mind!
Image - Dustin Pike/Doodle Dragon Studios
Technique - Magic Colored Pencil Technique
Paper - Basic Grey & Cardstock (both from my stash)
Miscellaneous - Fiskars Punch & Satin Ribbon
Sorry I didn't post this sooner  As you know things have been a bit chaotic with my dad being in the hospital.  He had a few surgeries last week, but I'm happy to report that he came home yesterday afternoon.  I stayed the night just to make sure he was comfortable with his new routine - he has lots of meds to take through out the day - easy if he were able to swallow, but because everything must go through his J-Tube, everything is a bit more complicated.  He has been such a trooper!  We are so grateful that God has kept my dad in his care.  While things will be tough for the next several months with radiation and chemo both starting this week, we are just so thankful for how good he is doing after everything he's been through the past few months and pray that he continues to fight his way through.  He is one TOUGH guy!  And I'm so proud of him!
Thanks so much for stoppin' by today!  I hope you've had a great weekend!!
Happy Craftin'!

A little Dino-Love for Valentines Day

I'm not sure about you girlz, but when I saw the Basic Grey Sugar Rush collection, I absolutely fell in love with it.  And even better, it was perfect for Colin's Valentine's Cards for his special people.
I thought this was perfect for Colin because he LOVES purple and Dinosaurs.
Image - Dustin Pike
Paper - Basic Grey, Sugar Rush; Cardstock - Lt. Blue, Orange & Purple
Technique - MCPT
Cricut - Circle & Heart (Plantin Schoolbook)
Miscellaneous - Stickles, DMC floss & Computer Sentiment - Scrap Baby Font
The heart actually spins - first one I've done like this.
The card actually says - Dino-Dragons are Purple, their hearts are shiny Blue, Happy Valentines Day from Colin & Natalie to You!
And I thought I'd also share the excitement we had last week - on Thursday afternoon we got a call that my friend Amy was indeed in labor, so off we went to get my nephew Colin from school.  So, at 7:30 we got a call that Colin's precious baby sister Natalie had arrived (and much smaller than expected - only 7 pounds, 15 ounces.
So, Friday night after work, Glen and I took Colin up to the hospital to see his baby sister.  So we've had a few chances for baby lovin and it's GREAT!  Just something about a new baby.
Not the greatest photo (we were trying to get an excited little boy to try & post for the camera).
And here's one of just her - isn't she precious?
So, that's the excitement in our lives lately.
Today we're getting snow - the first big storm of the winter here in Michigan - we're supposed to get 6-10" by the time all is said and done....I know, nothing compared to the snow those of you in the New England area have got or are getting.
Glad I'm having a snow day tomorrow - while it looks nice, it's not my favorite thing to drive in (so I'll spend the day in my studio!)
Happy Craftin'!

New Year Productivity!

So, I thought I'd share a few cards that I created over the weekend.  These cards were created using Sketch #11 for the Scrap-Friendzy Sketch-A-Thon.  It was a sketch I created to use.
These two cards are the last of the Christmas themed Thank You Cards.  I LOVE how the Pointsettia card turned out and the Penguin for my nephew turned out pretty cute too if I do say so myself.
Cricut - Joys of the Season - 2 pointsettia layers in red with leaves trimmed off.  One layer in green
Paper - From OLD OLD OLD Christmas stack
Miscellsneous:  Thanks - Studio G Stamp, Button from my stash, Ribbon from my stash, Chestnut Roan Ink
Image - Cute Penguin from Doodle Dragon Studios
Technique - Magic Colored Pencil
Same OLD OLD OLD Christmas Paper Stack
Cuttlebug - Candy Cane Stripe Embossing Folder (Thank you Jean!!)
Miscellaneous - Merry Christmas - Studio G Stamp, Colorbox Charcol Ink and Ribbon from my stash
These two below are movin' us into spring - can I tell you just HOW ready for spring I am??
Yesterday my commute was 5 1/2 hours to and from work - took me 3 1/2 hours to GET to work and another 2 to get home.  Yep, ready for the snow to go away and the flowers to start bloomin'!
.
Paper - Scenic Route - I think (more old paper from my stash)
Miscellaneous - Thanks - Studio G Stamps, Prima Flowers & Miscellaneous Flowers from my stash (tryin to make room for all the gorgeous Prima stuff that's coming out at Winter CHA!!!!), Brads & Ribbon from my stash as well as flat backed pink pearls (LOVE THESE)!
So, that's the creativity I was able to muster up lately.
If you haven't had a chance to check out the Sketch-A-Thon at Scrap-Friendzy, please stop by and join us.  You won't be sorry.  There is so much fabulous inspiration not only from the sketches, but also the fabulous projects the Girlz are creating!
Hope you're having a great day!  Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing part of your day with me!
Happy Craftin'!

The last of the Turkeys. . . .

And JUST in time for Turkey Day!!  I put together a few of these for our family.
It was a perfect card for Cheryl's challenge at Scrap-Friendzy - Use the scraps from your last layout.  Because my layouts have been few and far between lately, all my layout scraps were still within reach!
I thought this image was just too funny!  The Sentiment seemed appropriate as every year after Thanksgiving I remember my mom 'soaking' what was left over of the turkey and making Turkey Soup.  Ah, the holiday memories!  : )
Image - Dustin Pike Freebie
Technique - Magic Colored Pencil Technique
Papers - Left over Scraps from a layout I did for Colin's Album
Sentiment - Computer Generated - LDJ Noodge (Scrap N Fonts)
Miscellaneous - Doodling, Googley Eyes, Dimensionals for Turkey's feet & beak & Stickles!
I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your families & find some fabulous Black Friday Deals!
Happy Craftin'!
