Wow, if you haven't had a chance to check out the Just 'Cause Bugaboo Catch The Bug challenge from yesterday - please do - there are so many wonderful causes out there and so many things I learned about this wonderfully talented design team I've had the pleasure of working with for the month of October.
I was in a 'Cause' mood this weekend, so here is another 'cause' card using the Bugaboo Breast Cancer Bunnies and Bears - wonderful how this set of freebies can be used for causes OTHER than Breast Cancer.
My cause for today is Alzheimer's Awareness.
Two and a half years ago, my grandma passed away with complications from Alzheimer's Disease. A little over three years ago, my husband's grandma Stella also passed away from Alzheimer's Disease. And presently, my husband's aunt, Aunt Jeanette has Alzheimer's Disease.
It was so hard watching these once vibrant, very active ladies just go into this state of not remembering loved ones, remembering the past or looking forward to the future. Forgetting how to do simple every day things and having to be helped to do things on their own - something as simple as using a fork to eat a meal.
My grandma lived with my mom and dad for two years before she passed away. We smile when we thing of those times - with what little memory she had of things left, she sure could be spit fire - telling YOU how it should be done.
The saddest part of this disease to me is having someone you love look at you and NOT know who you are - not remember things you did together.
So, for Alzheimer's Awareness, I put together this card.
