A small CHALLENGE

I'm not sure about you, but when I started, I was a scrapbooker first and then got into cards (a mini-canvas for scrapbooking). 

Well, think small, even smaller than a card today....small as in 2.5" x 3.5". What kind of card are we making?

Artist Trading Cards of course - ATC is something else you may know them by.

New to ATC's? Yep, me too. This is only my second try at these little buggers and believe it or not - I LOVE the challenge of having to create something small (HOWEVER, I won't be trying inchies any time soon), but ATC's, I'm down with!

So - today's Catch The Bug Challenge with Bugaboo Stamps is "Make your very own ATC"

A little card that tells something about you or uses that image that you just love and don't know what to do with!

Mine...nothing better than a little tropical drink with a cherry & umbrella that says PARADISE! Not sure what it is about that little umbrella in a drink that makes it taste SO MUCH BETTER!! Most that know my hubby and I know the beach is where we love to be (especially as the snow flies here in Michigan today).

A Heartfelt Thank You!

I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!

I wanted to take a quick minute to make a personal post.

I want to THANK EVERYONE who was kind enough to send cards to my dad. 

You will NEVER know now much those cards meant to him and just how much he enjoyed EACH and EVERY ONE that arrived for him.  He was amazed that people from all over the world thought enough of him to send cards, Christmas and well wishes.

We were so very blessed to be able to spend the holidays with our family & friends, Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year.

Heaven received its newest angel on Friday, January 7th when Dad left us to be with the Lord.

My mom, Glen, my sister and I were all with Dad when he passed.

While it breaks our heart that he is no longer here with us, we are comforted by knowing that he is at peace and no longer suffering.

We were So Blessed this last year to be able to spend the time we did and we are so grateful all the memories that we've been able to celebrate as a family. 

God gave us a miracle - we spent the holidays as a family.

We plan to have a Celebration of Dad's life early this summer. 

Dad wanted to celebrate with friends and family once he recovered and beat his cancer. 

He was NOT going to give up - even at the end.

So, we intend to honor his wishes and have a celebration in his honor.

I can't THANK YOU all enough for your kindness toward my family - for your prayers and well wishes.

You will NEVER know how much that kindness has meant to our family this past year.

God Bless each and every one of you for your kindness!

A Marvelous Monday at Shelly's Images

Happy First Monday of 2011 . . . .  UGH, the first day back to work, always tough after some time off.

HOWEVER, nothing makes a day better than a Marvelous Monday at Shelly's Images!!

I can hardly believe it's been a year!

A Christmas Request....

As many of you know, my dad was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer January 2010.  This last year has lead our family on quite a roller coaster ride.

The Wednesday before Thanksgiving, we were given the news that my dad's cancer has spread around his lung now. 

The Friday after Thanksgiving, we sat down with the Hospice team to be sure he is taken care of and comfortable.

As you can imagine, this is devastating news for us all - my dad is a YOUNG guy - only 65, he is an Army Veteran who served his country during the Vietnam War and has always been Active and doesn't know what the word SLOW DOWN means.

He is the ROCK of our family and our STORY TELLER.

We are praying for miracles now as there isn't a treament or trial for what he has.

He is one STRONG guy and continues to fight this terrible disease.

For the last 12 months family and friends have sent cards and well wishes.  My dad has absolutely LOVED and CHERISHES every single card and well wish that has come his way.

This year I'd love to make it a Christmas he'll never forget.

Not by buying gifts or pomp & circumstance, but with Christmas Wishes & Memories.

I don't usually use my blog to do things like this and I like to try and keep things lite & fun here, but with it being Christmas and everyone being so wonderfully talented with card creations - would you mind making one extra card to send to my dad?  I can't even tell you how much it would mean to him and how special it would be.
