I wish you all a wonderful Memorial Day - How blessed we are to have so many wonderful soldiers that sacrifice so much and fight for our freedoms and safety daily.  And so many wonderful Veterans that have sacrificed so much so many years before.

Monday, we will be honoring my dad and his fallen comrades with his local Vietnam Veterans Association chapter, but adding his name to the memorial. 

We are so PROUD of what he did for our country and so PROUD to have him in our life. 

We are truly blessed!

Take time to say thank you to a Veteran or Soldier this weekend - let them know just how much their service and sacrifices means to you!

If you have a soldier or veteran in your life, give 'em an extra big hug!

Memorial Day weekend – here in Michigan means SUMMER (even if it was 48* this morning and we had to turn the heat back on last night – LOL)!

So, back to SUMMER – When I see Flamingos I think of warm weather, the beach and BRIGHT colors! :)

My honorary grandma, Marilyn, for some reason I’m not sure of had a HERD of Pink Flamingos show up in her front yard a few years ago (mind you, she lives in Michigan and these flamingos), then the Flamingo lights showed up after a family gathering in her bedroom and EVERYTIME I find some FUN Flamingo something, I send it to her.

Bring Oldie But Goodie Flowers at Bugaboo Stamps!  =)

Well, we had two days that it didn't rain here - unfortunately, 2 days is not long enough for the deck and fences to dry out and be painted!  UGH!

However, the Flowers, Grass and Garden are in FULL BLOOM!!!

And THAT is where the inspiration for today's card came from!  =)

We have a friend whose granddaughter was diganosed with Cancer this past February - Carly is 17 and a true fighter.  Even with months of Chemo, a Surgery this week and Radiation on the heals of all of that, she continues to battle through this.  After my dad's battle, there is something to be said for cards that come in the mail and the uplifting support they provide a broken spirit. 

Knowing you are in peoples hearts, even when they're too far away to be with you, is an amazing feeling.  I try to send both Marge and Carly cards on a regular basis to remind them we're thinking of them and that they're in our prayers daily.

So today I hope to provide a little support and brighten Marges day with this beauty!

In our house growing up, it was always "till someone gets an eye poked out".  Frankly, that grosses me out, and Sand in your Shorts is much FUNNIER I think (not too comfortable, but MUCH FUNNIER!)

The Challenge??  A RECIPE Challenge - imagine that - me loving RECIPES and Crafting and now I get to roll them both into one!!

When Jodie created Dottie, she quickly became one of my favorties (right behind ole' Stella) and because we're so deprived of Summer weather here in Michigan (unless raining for weeks on end is summer weather somewhere), this bright, perky, fun little Beach Dottie was perfect to bring a little sunshine into our rain soaked lives.  :)

First Layout in WAY TOO LONG!!

Boy oh boy, it's been some time since I've actually done a layout.  QUITE different from making cards I tell ya!

With my dad's BBQ Celebration of Life in July, of course, I wanted to get together a scrapbook album of some of our fond moments with my dad.

This was one!

Growing up our family was a U of M rooting family.  My grandfather worked for the U of M, in College I worked for the U of M Athletic Department.  And Funny, My hubby was a HUGE U of M fan too.

In our adult life, we continue to bleed Maize and Blue.  :)

Last February, when my dad was in the hospital the first of many times, a few of the U of M athletes came around the Veterans Hospital and took the time to talk with them.  Of course, being a scrapbooker, my camera is ALWAYS with me.  So, this is how we came to get this photo of my two favorite men - My dad and My Hubby with Zoltan Mesko (now a Punter for the NE Pats) and Patrick Omameh - Offensive Rt. Guard.

It took me nearly the entire day to get this done, but I'm pleased with how it turned out. 

I've gotten Three pages done so far for the album - I never realized just how hard it was going to be to do these.

All that Glitters Tutorial!

 Welcome to Half Way to Friday!  =)

I don't know about you, but other than stickles, I tend to AVOID loose glitter as much as I possibly can.  Everyone in my family wears it when I get it out - including my hubby and furbabies.  However, today, I'd like to share with you a fun way to adhere glitter to your cards, and hopefully not share TOO much with the rest of your family to wear!

Three items I use - loose glitter, Sakura Quickie Glue Pen and Tacky Tape

I started with this cute Rose Flower Name image (this was last Friday's Freebie you can STILL get it).  I attached two pieces of the double sided Tacky tape in the two corners of this image

After removing the red film from the tape, I sprinkled it with the loose glitter (be sure to use a piece of paper to catch any run away glitter.  Tap excess glitter off.

 Below, I decided to add glitter to the purple flower part of this mage.  I colored my image first with my copics and then used my Quickie Glue pen.  I colored small sections at a time and didn't color over the black lines, so they would stand out after the glitter was added.  After each small section was 'colored' with the quickie glue pen, I sprinkled the glitter and then tapped off excess glitter. Repeat until image areas are glittered as you wish.

Here is a close up photo of the glittered strips and the glittered flower (kind of hard to see).

Here is the final product - it's hard to see the glittery part of the glitter, but it looks gorgeous in real life.

T is for Trouble...

Boy, we all know about those TROUBLE things, don't we? 

We have TWO of these little TROUBLE causing creatures in our house.  They're getting a little older and don't cause quite as much TROUBLE as they once did, but they still cause their fair share!

Our tubby Furbaby LOVES to chase shadows.  Yes, you read that right, CHASE SHADOWS.  You open the dishwasher in the kitchen and he can be in a different room of the house and he makes a B-line to chase those evil shadows that intend on taking over his house.

Silly little creatures - they do make our days brighter though.
